By Jonathan Leonard, It is still only July, and moves are still to be made but this offseason has already been so intriguing I want the season to start now instead of October 28th. But to hold us all over until then, I have created my “Way Too Early Eastern Conference Predictions” starting at the bottom, up to the top. Warning – Some of my predictions may shock you.

In recent weeks, Charlotte has been in contact with a number of teams and they’ve made it clear that the No. 2 pick is available. However, multiple league sources have said that the Bobcats are looking for a lot in return. They would like to add a face of the franchise player, which is why they’ve reportedly expressed interest in young stars like Rudy Gay and James Harden. If the Bobcats can’t use the pick to make a splashy move, they’ll likely draft Thomas Robinson HoopsWorld (more…)
A deal for Evans has been much speculated upon everywhere. But the Kings are said to want a lot and would hardly add the No. 5 pick with him. Maybe you get the pick for Noah. Hardly Evans and the pick. Maybe you get Evans and the pick for Noah and Deng, which would be ridiculous for the Bulls to do. It makes little sense for either side. NBA.com

Up until this point, Drummond has been working out in Manhattan with trainer Idan Ravin. He’ll begin scheduling workouts with teams over the next few days. In the meantime, Drummond is saying all of the right things. He’s vowing to work hard and focus all of his energy on improving as a player. “All I can tell you is that no matter what team I get drafted to, whoever I’m with, I’m going to work my hardest,” Drummond said. “I’m going to do the best I can and play to the best of my abilities. I can’t dictate the future and know what I’m going to do. All I know is that I’m going to go out there and give it my all.” HoopsWorld (more…)
“Chicago has great basketball players,” Davis said Thursday at the NBA predraft combine at the UIC Pavilion. “We all just work hard and love the game. I know a lot of kids are going to look up to me. I’m going to try to be a positive role model. A lot of little kids stand outside my house with a basketball and ask ‘Can I hoop in your backyard.’ ” Chicago Tribune
Sources say the Cavaliers are very high on the 20-year-old small forward (Harrison Barnes) and appear unlikely to let him slip past them at the No. 4 slot in the June 28 draft. While this week’s predraft combine in Chicago (June 6-7), and the team workouts thereafter, could always change things, rival executives are planning for Barnes to be off the board by the time the fifth pick (Sacramento) rolls around. “Our perimeter is an area that we’d like to add a little youth, whether it’d be the one (point guard), the two (shooting guard) or the three (small forward),” Blanks said. “We want to inject some youth in that. When you look at our roster and compare it to the draft, we feel like we’ll be able to do that in a big and impactful way.” Arizona Republic (more…)

The talent of this year’s draft class for centers is probably as low as it has ever been. With the shift of the league to big men who can stretch the floor and have mobility, the need for a true center has diminished. With that being said, there is no substitute for size and length so let’s take a look at the top five center prospects in this year’s NBA draft. (more…)
