Former BYU center Brandon Davies has been invited to participate in next week’s NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. While not exactly a surprise, given how he performed at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament last month, earning MVP honors, Davies was not a sure thing to make the list. So that’s great news for the Provo High graduate, projected by some to be a late second-round pick in June’s NBA Draft. Salt Lake Tribune

I’m hearing Harrison Barnes may be in second place on their wish list. Apparently, MJ is a fan. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Bradley Beal are in the mix, too, though I’m told MKG didn’t blow anyone away in his workout for the Bobcats on Monday and also hurt his back a littleESPN.com

The Wizards really need shooting, which should give Beal or Barnes a leg up. But I continue to hear that Kidd-Gilchrist remains the favorite. It’s very closeESPN.com

“The season is over. I’m on to the next chapter,” Drummond said. “I feel that I had on okay year. Things I could’ve done better: Score more. Play less passive. Grab more rebounds and block a few more shots. I felt I was ready to make the move [to the NBA] and that’s what I did.” Washington Post
The Bucks hold their fourth draft workout Monday, a session featuring four players hoping to work their way into the second round. The session features 7-foot center Justin Hamilton of Louisiana State; 6-6 small forward Tony Mitchell of Alabama; 6-8 power forward Keith Wright of Harvard; and 6-7 small forward Olu Ashaolu of Oregon.Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel

NBA Draft Rumors for May 18, 2012

Here are the Safe Bets: Harrison Barnes, North Carolina, sophomore small forward (6-foot-8, 215 pounds): No one is predicting the next coming of Kevin Durant, but Barnes is seen by most as a high-level scorer whose skills should translate at the next level. He averaged 17.1 points last season, but left Tar Heels fans wanting more at the end as he shot just 32.8 percent in four NCAA tournament games. Still, executives are confident he’ll be a productive pro even though he’s not a great athlete and his dribble-drive game needs work. “Is he going to be an All-Star? I don’t know, but it’s not like he’s going to be a bust either,” a front-office source said. SI.com

NBA Draft Rumors for May 14, 2012

The line starts behind Anthony Davis. There may be questions about the talent level at point guard in the 2012 NBA Draft. There may be concerns about the paucity of small forwards in the Draft. There will be, as ever, lamenting about the lack of true center prospects in the Draft. But there is no question who the first pick of the Draft will be — Davis, the freshman sensation from Kentucky who led the Wildcats to the NCAA national championship and whose defensive skills have every lottery team from 1 to 14 dreaming about the possibilities of putting Davis in the home white next season. He jump-starts every team’s rebuilding process and accelerates most to the point where making the playoffs becomes the expected outcome going forward. NBA.com
