When you are one of the top guards in your class, people tend to look for you to make the move that people expect…the shock comes when you don’t. Rodney Purvis, the 6’4” 200 lb guard from Raleigh N.C. was able to shock the world when he had everybody offering him out of high school. At Upper Room Christian Academy, he was announced as the 2012 North Carolina Men’s Prep Player of the Year. Also he was named a McDonald’s All American which put him in the ranks of the Raleigh great John Wall. He was successful in the McDonald’s All American game as he scored 15 points and 3 assist. Against Arizona in last year’s NCAA tournament game, Ohio State point guard Aaron Craft found shooting guard LaQuinton Ross for a game-winning 3-point shot. The game before that, Craft made a game-winning 3-pointer that gave the Buckeyes a win over Iowa State. (more…)

This year’s big NCAA tournament has been one like no other. Records were set and there are numerous Cinderella stories that many are talking about. Now that teams are in the Sweet-16 portion of the March Madness tournament, previous games mean very little and teams are really showing who does or doesn’t deserve to advance.
Right from the start Marquette took total control of the game in what turned out to be a huge victory for the Golden Eagles. Marquette entered the tournament ranked third, one spot below the Miami Hurricanes, but came out on top 71-61. Marquette will now be advancing to the Elite-8. (more…)

Once considered a top 75 recruit by ESPN, Ohio State sophomore Laquinton Ross had been facing some ups and severe downs. Not living near up to the expectations people expected of him something had to change.
In the 2011-12 season Ross was only averaging two points per game and a total of 35 minutes played in only nine games for Buckeyes who were first in the NCAA standings last year. With a team that good they’re not going to settle for just anybody being on the court and Ross would have to fight for his playing spot. His high school status was and is meaningless to them. (more…)
